to p .k.

your part you played
a standing ovation this is
those sacrifices in zambia
you could have chosen comfort
relative comfort of middle class

on the side of the down trodden
you, joshua nkomo and others
the dangers of enemy fire present
parcel bombs, car bombs and other weapons
the racist regime had to be dislodged

you will never walk alone
ndabaningi sithole is there with you
many they have passionately hated
you dared to sing these dirges
forsaking the friuts of sycophancy
posterity will treasure these living lessons

in the cocoon

withdrew into the comfort
the comfort of the cocoon
everywhere vibrations of violence
echoes of bragging about it

today the trauma still
wounds raw yet to heal
still under siege this nation
the numbing fear present

at times this poet withdraws into a cocoon.this is in keeping with time tested wisdom that :he who fights and runs away will live to fight another day.the withdrawal is akin to that of the tortoise.it is done out of the abundance of caution.that is how it is with this self styled poet-prophet-philosopher.
